Jack celebrated his 2nd birthday at kidnasium called Monkey Joe's. There was bouncing, some more bouncing, and even a little more bouncing. The moms were thrilled with the 4 hour naps that followed his birthday bash.
We're moving up in the world and bought a camcorder to recorder every second. During his evil teenage years, we'll be able to go back and re-live his innocence and sweetness. Point being, we forgot to take pictures in addition to the video. Here's one shot of the birthday boy! (whoever took pics, please send our way!)

This new baby doesn't have a gender, though. We're settling into our new home, FINALLY. It was a close call, but we stuck it out and survived. We're hunkered down and not moving until it's to our nursing home.
Jack is a scrumptious, wild monkey man and Chloe has come out of her severe depressive episode. No more stairs, no more slippery wood floors or banishment to the backyard...she's happy, once again.
If you're reading this, thanks for being patient with our updating the blog and we hope you can come visit soon! Here are just a few snapshots for those interested. We have plenty more settling in to do.

P.S. Photo is in the dark because that's the only time I have my hands free from the wild monkey.

Jack started preschool at the beginning of the year and has been having a wonderful time in his class of 4. They enjoy science, art, music, judaica studies, p.e., and his favorite...snack time! It didn't take him long to find a girlfriend and we are just delighted in his choice. Sophia is just the sweetest little girl and a great influence on Jack's development. She has quickly taught him how to treat a lady and encourages him to use his manners at the snack table. Their first date was at Minnehaha Park. They blew each other a kiss goodbye (one of Jack's specialities) and he looks forward to their next rendezvous, perhaps at the Chick-fil-A Playground.

Jack has always been a verbal baby, but recently he's really getting the hang of holding a conversation with others. He's chatted with the CVS checkout lady, fellow shoppers of Publix, and even himself in the mirror at the JCC. Jack has so much to tell us and one day we'll finally know what's going on in that crazy mind of his. For now, here's a taste of what I listen to from sunrise til sunset.

The big 15!

Jack is a whopping 15 months old and barreling through toddlerhood like a champ. He's running and climbing and blabbing his head off. When that boys eyes are open-you better watch out! He's learning how to eat his toes at Itsy Bitsy Yoga, how to shove as much challah into his mouth at once during shabbat at the JCC, and how to steal toys from other kids at KIDZONE. Yep, its true, they grow up so fast. Jack can be very serious at time {not sure where he gets that from), but most of the time-he's an absolute ham.

Just being my usual self...even if you are a stranger...I'll still fly into your arms!

PopPop took me for a swim during my first trip to Ft. Lauderdale. I was so exhausted, I didn't even make it through dinner. And you know me and food....

FINALLY! The one and only J-Will came to visit me! He brought his beautiful girlfriend, Rebecca, who was my girlfriend for the night!

I can say "da da"!!! But I can't quite get down the name of that lady that I see all day long.

Jack is one lucky boy to have his great-grandparents come to Orlando just to see him. I only had one great-grandparent until I was about 12 and her name was Leah Mama. So the tradition continues with Mi-mama and Al-papa who just adore their Jack-man! Jack carrys on the "Kaplan nose" so they feel very connected to their little guy.

Scott's grandfather also came up to visit Jack and spent a whole day on the AMTRAK just get to see him (the trip should have only taken about 3 hours!) This is when Jack's fascination with sunglasses took place and Great Poppy Paul couldn't leave Jack without buying him his own pair of shades!

Taste of Disney

Jack got his first taste of Disney at Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club Hotel. He had a schmorgasboard of food from the buffet and devoured two giant cookies right in front of his "gramma" Ilene. Ooops. We said the G-word!
We think Jack is ready to dive head first into the true Disney experience. He may not agree, but we'll try soon. Anyone want to join us?

The Lustig family came up from S. Florida to celebrate with us and we had a great breakfast with them before the party started. Noah took to Jack very quickly and their relationship progressed over breakfast. At first they stared at eachother, then exchanged kind words and pieces of food, and that led to...well, you'll see here.

Uncle Bubba also came in from Indiana and was able to teach Jack a few boxing moves during his visit. In return, Jack played some Doodlebop tunes for Uncle Bubba to enjoy in the car. Pretty sure he had nightmares of multicolored creatures climbing through his window that night.

To make a long story short...there was so much to be joyful of so far this year and my mom threw a party to honor all of the accomplishments and honors!! How lucky our family is to have been showered with love and kindness as people traveled many miles to join us! We're truly blessed.

Jack partied it up like a champ in Jacksonville to celebrate his first year of life! Aunt Dana threw a big bash to honor our little guy. Awesome family, delicious cupcakes, and a bath in birthday cake is just what he wanted. We're so happy to be back in Florida to share these special occasions. Thank you for all of the fun toys, books, and adorable outfits!...and thank you Nana Bonnie for spending the afternoon putting together the great scooter rider thingy for Jack-he LOVES it.

Scott graduates from Ortho!!!

Scott graduated from Stony Brook University Department of Orthodontics this past Friday. After much deliberation, we decided to bring Jack to the ceremony. We shoveled more food into his mouth for 2 hours, than most kids eat in a week! It kept him happy and quiet (quiet is relative for an Aaron baby). Jack cheered on his daddy as they called him up to receive his blank certificate....the real one comes in about a month when he's really done. CONGRATULATIONS, SCOTT!!!
The end is nearing and we will certainly look back on our three years in NY with fond memories. We've made such treasured friendships, enjoyed some awesome food and watched our precious souvenir, Jack, grow up into a charming and sweet one year old boy.
We're headed to Winter Park, Florida in 4 weeks. A hop skip and a jump from the magical land of Disney World-so we expect MANY visitors! Yah, we're talking 'bout you!

We didn't get to take too many pictures because the gorgeous Julia was very busy running up and down stairs, jumping on the trampoline and sharing snacks with everyone. She is absolutely adorable and sweet, especially when she's talking. But we snapped a quick one as she plopped down to take a break. Her little sister Cara is the angel of all angels. It was so nice to see some of Ali's genes finally passed down to her offspring. We had such a great time getting to see everyone!

Our amazing friends, Damian, Amy, Hayden and Zade drove cross country...ok, across Florida to meet the little guy. Jack had such an great time meeting his new buddies. It's kinda freaky to see Jack with Hayden because we knew Hayden as a zygote. Now he's a big kindergardener and a big brother! Zade is his father's clone, not only with his adorable face, but with his hilarious stories (that only he understands). Amy is the most wonderful friend anyone could as for and she's going to soon be mother of three! We can't wait to be back in Florida so we can share more times with the Andersons!

We are very grateful that Chloe has such amazing motherly instincts. She is Jack's protector while he's playing on the floor and she oversees each and every diaper change. Ready, Set, EAT! Our little (okay, quite large) boy is learning how to eat with a spoon. Grandma Harley says practice makes perfect and with just a few feedings, her kosher porkchop was opening his mouth for more!

If someone would have told us years ago that we would have our first child in NY, we would have thought they lost their mind. Our little New Yorker is going to experience his first winter season, so we need to keep him bundled in his bear outfit! I wonder if they make one in a jumbo size for Scott!

Grandma and Grandpa came for their monthly visit to get their Jack fix for October! The weekend flew by and the countdown for their Thanksgiving visit has already begun. Jack can't get enough of Grandma singing to him and Grandpa making him giggle from his silly noises. Thank you for such a fun weekend!!

Some say that Jack is starting to look like his daddy! Daddy is very excited about that!

Jack's grandparents came to visit and watch Scott at his first NY triathalon. It was utterly amazing!!! No, not the triathalon, but the fact that his parents woke up BEFORE 5 a.m. to get there on time! Jack enjoyed his feedings and cuddles from them. He showed off his talent of using their bellies as a stairmaster. We're thinking any day now he may take off running...those little legs never stop!!! Jack was kept VERY busy and had a great time on every adventure!

Scott took off for Providence, R.I. for the annual NESO meeting, so Grandma Harley and Grandpa Steve came up to help take care of baby Jack and mommy. Of course, the first night they spent with us, Jack had his first "sleep through the night" experience!! Hoooray! He's already a show-off! Grandma stocked our fridge up with home-made chicken parm and scrumptious mint chocolate brownies! Grandpa can just sit and watch Jack gurgle and smile all day long! They both are deeply in love with the sweet boy. Hurry up and come back for more!

Scott also gets quality time with his brother during the late night shift of watching the baby. Jeff provides comedy for Scott when they have Jack on the changing table. Alarmed from the "throwing up and diahrrea exploding out of Jack", Jeff shouted to call the doctor because the baby must be sick!!! Ha.

Our weekly trip out east was DELICIOUS and her homemade stuffed chickens and Scott's favorite stuffed mushrooms were a perfect way to end our wonderful weekend. Jack already misses her singing... WE LOVE YOU!!!

Aunt Lindsay Visits Long Island

Aunt Lindsay came to visit her nephew for a long weekend. We are very excited to spend time with both of them, but sad that Tyler and Uncle Jared were unable to come too. Jack told me he feels very loved, and truly appreciates all the love and attention he is getting. He said that he promises to show Lindsay his appreciation, by trying to spit up, pee, and poop on her at least twice a day during the weekend.

Jen's parents came back up for 5 days. The 5 of us had a great time. We cherish the time together. Moreover, they kept wanting us to go out for dinner, while they watched Jack. They twisted our arms, and in the end, they won. We'll miss them when they leave, but Jack forced them to come back next month. And the grandchildren always get what they want.

Dana just couldn't resist cuddling with the little guy. What can I say, my son has a way with the ladys!!! It was great having Aunt Dana up here. Aside from the legal counseling we got at the 10% family discount; she is great with Jack, and the help was very much appreciated. We feel blessed to have so much family around us that care about Jack, and make such unbelievable effort to come and visit us!

Aunt Dana Arrives To meet Jack

So Aunt Dana, our beloved Gator Grad. family Lawyer (She just took the bar this week!!!), came up to visit and of course meet Jack. At first Jack was playing hard to get. As you can see, it was love at first site for Dana. But the little snuggler came around, and they sat on the couch ALL night together. Jack was trying to make Dana a Yankees Fan. Not hard to do since Joba was pitching tonight. However, Dana was content on just holding Jack, I don't think the Yankees thing worked out...Nice try Jack!

Maria and Pete Come Over...

Aside from being my "Big Sib" when I was a first year in the program. Maria and Pete are one of our dearest friends. If they would just move to Florida, I'm pretty sure together, we could straighten everyone's teeth in the whole state!!! Even those Red Necks from Vallrico (How the hell do you spell that place???) Anyway, Maria and Pete are going to be new parents as well. George Alexander is due Sept. 10. He is going to be Jack's new best friend. They don't have a choice in the matter.

We can't believe that our little "Eating Machine" was 6 weeks old on Friday. He has gone from 8.1lbs - 11.8lbs in six short weeks. I think we are getting the hand of this parenting thing. I mean Jack doesn't seem to have any complaints?!

My brother, Jeff, and my Poppy Paul (who will be 90 years young this October!!!) came up from Florida for the weekend to hang with their new little man, Jack. It was a GREAT weekend filled with Jeff kicking our butts in poker and gin, watching movies, and taking a day trip to the farms at the east end of Long Island. They are both amazing with Jack--Jeff has this incredibly gentle touch that puts Jack to sleep immediately. I offered Jeff 100% of my salary to stay, but he said that he would miss Krista too much. We feel so lucky to have everyone in the family taking turns coming up to meet the new addition. Thank you Poppy and Jeff for our fun visit!!

Chloe has eased into her motherly role to Jack. In fact, it comes naturally for her. Jack on the other hand, didn't even know Chloe was alive until today. Giving the same face his mother makes, Jack looks at Chloe with an undecided look of concern... Will he have any use for this furry thing??? I guess we'll have to stay tuned to see...

My parents came up this weekend for my birthday. They are a lot of energy, fun, and full of love for Jack, Jen, and I. It was hard to do much, because they just wouldn't put Jack down. It was a great weekend. While the women went out, the men stayed home with Jack and visa versa. Jen and I are very glad that both sets of parents are wonderful grandparents, it makes the plan of moving back to S. Fla in a year seem much sweeter to us. For now, the weekends when our parents and family come up are treasured gifts we look forward to.
